In the beginning, a player is required to put in a certain amount of chips into the pot. This amount is called the ante. Depending on the game, the ante may be limited to a set amount, or it may be based on a sliding scale.
After the first round of betting, the dealer places the flop, which is three cards face up. This is followed by the second round of betting, which includes the flurry. During this round, the dealer has the last right to shuffle. At the end of this round, the hole cards are shown.
A three-card flurry is a common technique that players use to help them win the poker hand. It is a good tactic, but it does not guarantee a victory.
A four-card flurry is also common. Unlike the three-card flurry, this is achieved through a bet that is not a raise. As in the three-card flurry, the player who is able to raise the pot is said to be calling. Another technique is to check, which means that a player is betting without making a bet.
Ties are broken by a high card. Whenever a player has a pair of a certain type, the player can break a tie by betting with the highest card in that suit.
The best three of a kind is the top three cards of the same suit. Those three cards can be a single or a combination of two pairs and a fifth card. The three kings are the highest three of a kind.
Typically, the best hand is a pair of aces or a pair of kings. However, it is possible to beat that hand, especially with a wild card.
